Diving Sites In Coron BayCoron Bay is a diving destination located on Palawan Island, in the Philippines. This site is one of the most famous wreck diving destinations of ..... John (my dive buddy and hubby) and I just got back from scuba diving at the Southport Seaway.
The tide was VERY high today and we waited an hour for it to come right in. Otherwise we would've spent all our bottom time being pushed the "wrong" way. We sat on the jetty and waited with a couple of fishermen. The tide was so high today, we didn't climb in.
We just sat on the end and slipped off onto a rock. Too Easy!!
The water was way up over the jetty today, (unlike in this picture) - we almost floated away while putting on our fins.

While waiting, a sea snake came to visit us.
Funny looking long skinny creature with pinkish coloured barnacles growing on him. He looked confused with the tide, and came right up onto the jetty - wanted to sit with us maybe? He was cute anyway, and John gave him a gentle push so he'd go back to his home. All of a sudden, the area was alive with people looking at the snake.
We saw a dolphin's fin too, but he didn't come close. We finally decided to get in, descended straight away before we were swept off. The viz was pretty good, probably about 10 metres. For the last 2 weeks, it's only been 1 metre some days.
As I was descending, I saw a little wobbegong shark skuttle off in the sand. I descended very easy today, with my ankle weights. I was leading today, so off we went to the pipe, and met up with hundreds of our friends the Big Eye Trevally. There were lots more today than can be seen here...

Scuba VacationsFor those who have taken scuba diving courses, scuba vacations are the next step to enjoying the .....
The little stripeys were hanging round the rocks as usual and coming right up to our masks to say hello.

Glow SticksGlow sticks have been around for over 25 years, but their popularity continues to grow. The light-emitting sticks come in many sizes and colors, and ..... On the way there, we saw a Stingaree in the sand, skuttling along. First time we've seen one of those at the Seaway. We went along the pipe a little way, and had to stop a few times. For some reason, John's mask kept fogging up, and filling up with water, so our trip down the pipe was shortened a little.
After awhile, we turned round and went back to the rocks. I looked in a little cave and saw an Abbotts Moray poking his little head out. We saw some Yellow-finned Leatherjackets too, really big ones. We hung around the rocks for awhile, just looking at all the fish and enjoying being with them. We climbed out easily. Good Dive and I want to go again SOON!!
